Week 31

This week was full of Halloween fun, for the most part!  We looked at baby Halloween costumes, and just couldn’t find anything cuter than the pumpkin costume that Laney wore for her first Halloween!  So, we dressed her up, and off she went to daycare on Friday morning, with her sister the princess!

Friday night we carved our jack o’ lantern, although Audrey didn’t really have much to do with it, other than hanging out to take pictures with it on the front porch!

Saturday we hung out at home to watch the Tigers game.  Before the game, I found the velour tiger suit that Grandpa Price got Laney (check it out here), and realized that it would be about the right size, so we had to break it out for the game…

Halloween we didn’t do much trick-or-treating, just went to Grandma Jo’s house before the Youth party…

Since she couldn’t have candy, Grandma Jo got Audrey a little baby doll.  Her first doll, and she loves it!  She was cracking up at it…

Anyway, so those are the picture highlights from this past week.  As far as milestones and that kind of thing, Audrey has really started crawling now.  She’s still not totally smooth with it or up on all fours all of the time, but she covers some serious ground!  Which means nothing is safe, that’s for sure.  She is very curious and into everything, especially Truman, and TV remotes! 

One other cool thing that has happened in the last week or so is that all of a sudden Laney likes to play with and talk to and interact with Audrey.  Maybe it’s because now Audrey plays with toys, or maybe it’s because she “talks” now.  Whatever it is, Laney has started being interested in playing with her.  The other day I couldn’t resist taking this picture on my phone:

  Audrey looks at Laney as if she is absolutely the coolest thing in the world.  She smiles and laughs at her, and is always going after whatever Laney has!  Audrey’s favorite thing to do is watch Laney jump on the bed.  Laney jumps and giggles, and Audrey just laughs and laughs watching her.  It’s so sweet.  I’m excited to watch them develop as sisters… I hope they can be close and get along! 

So that’s the update for this week… lots of talking and changing for our baby girl!  I have definitely decided that this is my favorite age so far.  She’s just so darn fun and good natured… loving it!

7 Months!

I am 7 months old now!

To celebrate, they dressed me up in this ridiculously HOT orange thing, and made me watch everyone else eat candy.  I’m hoping celebrations get better as I get older…

Now that I’m 7 months old, there’s lots of things I can do.  I can sit up really good.  I eat all kinds of food, but I refuse to eat any green vegetables.  They make me shudder and cough and gag.  That’s why my nose is all orange.  But my mommy says that just made me a better pumpkin.  Not sure what she’s talking about… I can finally get places on my own now!  I don’t have to stay where they lay me down, I can crawl everywhere!  And now I can get at that soft, fuzzy thing with four legs that walks around my house.  He has the coolest tail!  He keeps moving away when I try to snuggle with his tail, but now I can follow him!

As a 7 month old, I think it’s really important to express my opinions, so I’ve been working on that.  Mommy and Daddy don’t seem to understand me, all they do is make weird noises back.  Guess they’ll have to work on that. 

So that’s my life as a 7 month old.  I’m getting this place figured out! 

Weeks 29 & 30

Wow, it’s hard to even think about how to start this post, because Miss A has changed so much in the last few weeks!  She is doing all kinds of new things, and growing so fast it’s hard to remember everything! 

She has learned in the last two weeks how to really sit up on her own.  She doesn’t really pull herself into a sitting position, but once she’s sitting she’s really very balanced and stable.  And she loves to grab anything around her, but especially her toes! :)

Audrey is also becoming VERY mobile… she is definitely doing a good army crawl now, and rolling and spinning in circles like crazy, so she covers a lot of ground.  No one is safe anymore…least of all Truman!  Speaking of which, she has definitely discovered Truman!  She is all about getting to him and snuggling with him.  Like with Laney, he puts up with it pretty well, but clearly isn’t pleased!  He lets her snuggle for awhile, and then moves somewhere higher! 

Audrey is also finding her voice and her personality… she talks and laughs a lot now.  And she is fascinated with her big sister.  She is constantly watching Laney and laughing at whatever she’s doing.  I get the feeling that’s a trend that will continue!

It’s really not limited to her sister, though, Audrey is really starting to like and interact with people in general.  As soon as she sees someone she reaches for their face and grabs and pats them.  It’s awful sweet, and it’s hard to beat that feeling!  Except, of course, when patting and reaching turns to grabbing and pinching.  Then it’s more painful than sweet! :)

So there’s everything I can think of… I’m sure there are things I’m missing, she changes so fast!  Guess I’ll just have to keep up next week if I missed anything!  And, now on to the pictures…

Audrey got to go to her first parade!  We had absolutely beautiful weather for the parade!

So, we’ve tried out some of those Gerber puffs that dissolve in her mouth, and she’s reacting about like her sister did!  Mostly she just flings them onto the carpet.  But I thought this was hilarious… a cute face and smile, but check out her right ear… yeah, that’s a puff earring she’s got there!  Nice…

Sitting up means more fun in the bath, that’s for sure!  I took out the little sling thing, and let her sit up.  She still had some trouble because she was so slippery, but she certainly seemed to enjoy it!

Clearly she’s found Truman, and she’s now mobile enough to get to him.  Doesn’t he look thrilled?! :)

So there’s an update from the last couple of weeks.  I am really hoping to get to update every week.  But it has just been totally crazy, and finding time to blog with two little ones running around is difficult!  And I’d rather enjoy my time with them, instead of staring at the computer!  So, I’ll do my best, but updates may be every 2 weeks! :)  I’d much rather watch my little girl grow…

Week 28

Only a few pictures from our trip to Springfield for Uncle Tim’s birthday from Week 28… between unpacking our house, packing up to go on a trip again, and just the random craziness of the past week, I haven’t had the camera out much.

Playing with Grandma Jo…

Audrey got to hang out in a walker while we were eating dinner.  She liked the toys, but her feet were dangling, so she couldn’t really walk in it!

Grandma Jo wanted a picture of her with all 4 of her great-grandchildren.  It’s no small feat getting a picture with 4 little ones in it, but at least everyone is looking, and no one is screaming! :)

So that was the most exciting part of Week 28.  Not much in the way of milestones, either.  We did go to the doctor for her 6 month check up.  Audrey is 25 3/4 inches long and weighs 15 lbs, 4 oz.  I checked to see how close that was to Laney, and Audrey is about half an inch longer, and an ounce heavier.  So, pretty close to the same size.  I didn’t get percentiles, because we got distracted by something else… fluid on her ears!  Bummer… so, she’s starting antibiotics to take care of it before it becomes an ear infection.  Sure am hoping we don’t have as much trouble with Audrey as we did with Laney at this age!  Guess only time will tell…

Weeks 26 & 27

So, week 26 and 27 have been seriously crazy around the Looten household… and Miss A. continues to grow like a weed!  She is six months old now, and is developing a lot of personality!  She’s eating all kinds of fruits and vegetables, and loves most of them.  She doesn’t care for peas or peaches, but everything else is fair game.  And she eats A LOT!  She usually has two full things of food every evening for dinner... which means she’s really growing!  We haven’t had her 6 month doctor’s appointment yet; we go next week, and I’m excited to see how much she weighs now.

She’s also getting really mobile.  She rolls all over the place as soon as we set her down, and is trying really hard to crawl.  She laughs a lot, and is almost always a happy, cheerful baby… except, of course, when she’s hungry!  The coolest thing that she’s started to do recently is really reach for people.  She loves to touch people’s faces, and always reaches up whenever you come near to her.  It’s such a sweet feeling!  She also is laughing and talking so much more now.  She’s very ticklish, especially on her neck.  It’s very cute… she still get the hiccups every time she gets to laughing, though!

But enough updating… on to the pictures! :)

While we were in IL for the MDA Walk, Audrey had fun hanging out with that whole side of the family.  They will always have kind of a special place for her, since she was born there!

Funniest thing, Audrey and Aunt Sarah were sitting in this chair, and Audrey was absolutely FASCINATED by the ball on the arm of the chair.  She spent forever like this, and kept trying to get her mouth around it.  It was pretty hilarious…

Just like her big sister, Audrey doesn’t like to sit while she’s being held.  She wants to stand, all the time.  So, I busted out the jungle bouncer… she enjoyed it for awhile…

But she’s really still too short for it!  Soon, though! :)

This past weekend was quite the adventure, with recarpeting our house , plus Roots, Blues & BBQ.  Audrey took it like a champ, though…

Saturday she spent a lot of time hanging out in her pack and play, since we were down to concrete floors!  She seemed to like playing in the sunshine, though!

Saturday night we headed back downtown for Roots & Blues, and Audrey had a fun first… FIRST SHOES!  It was chilly, and she wouldn’t keep her socks on, so we put on some little tennies to make her leave them on!  They looked pretty adorable…

But she was pretty fascinated with them!

It was a little colder at Roots and Blues then we even thought, but Audrey snuggled up with Uncle Charlie and her pink blanket and made it through alright!

And, finally, Monday we got our new carpet… Audrey got to try it out, and gave it her stamp of approval! :)

Anyway, so that’s been the last two weeks… crazy busy, and our littlest girl continues to grow!  Never a dull moment with two little girls!! :)  

Week 25

Week 25 is late, but I didn’t want to combine with week 26 because they’ve both been so busy!  So, here’s a quick update and, of course, some pictures! :)

The big event of week 25 was seeing Aunt Jess!  She was in town for a wedding, and stayed a couple of days later just to hang out with us!  She hadn’t seen Audrey in a long time, and at this age they change so fast, so it was pretty fun!

We also had the Fish Fry at church last weekend, so Audrey got to hang out for the day there, with the rest of us!

Jess brought me a new lens for my camera, and it doesn’t have autofocus.  I was just trying to get the hang of it at the Fish Fry, so I had some pictures not come out as clear as I’d like.  I was majorly bummed when this one wasn’t quite clear, but a little fuzzy or not, it’s a sweet pic of Audrey and her Grandpa Price!

Passed out… several times through the day I wished I could take a little nap!

One of the funniest and most unique things about Miss A. is how much of a snuggle bunny she is… give her a blanket and she is a happy baby!  Well, usually.  Anyway, this past week or so she’s been getting tired earlier than normal (guess daycare is wearing her out, or maybe it’s all of the turning over and trying to crawl).  So she’ll be playing on the living room floor, and all of a sudden it’ll get quiet, and we’ll look down and she’ll be passed totally out, always snuggled up with whatever she could reach- a bib, some pjs, or, occasionally an actual blanket!  It’s really pretty funny, and I couldn’t resist getting a picture of it one day!

She was really sleeping with her legs pulled up like this, and her face totally covered.  Blanket baby!

 

Anyway, so there’s the highlights of week 25.  She is rolling like a maniac; nothing is safe in our living room!  That’s made things especially funny for her and Laney, since Laney doesn’t really know that Audrey’s not trying to annoy her, so she says “Mom!!  She’s messing with me!!”  I get the feeling I’ll be hearing that for awhile!  She also really loves to grab and touch things.  I guess it’s probably the same thing as the snuggling with blankets, but if she sees something she wants to feel it.  It’s pretty sweet when you pick her up and she reaches to feel your face!  Truman doesn’t appreciate it as much, however! :) 

So that’s it… more exciting pictures coming up next week, because we had another busy week this week!  This fall is flying by, and I can’t believe my little girl is already almost six months old!!
