Weeks 16 & 17

Well, it was bound to happen, and now it has! :)  I missed last week, obviously, so this is two weeks worth of posting.  Although, really, part of the reason I didn’t post last week was I just didn’t really have many pictures.  And, last week was VBS at church, so I REALLY didn’t have time to post last Thursday!  So there are my not so good excuses, now on with the pictures (‘cause I know that’s really why you’re here)!

Audrey got to go to her first Camp Nowhere experience.  We didn’t spend the night in the tents (Thank you, Audrey!), but we spent the evening there Friday and the day on Saturday.  Audrey got passed around and was very content.  And she enjoyed some lay around time outside! :)

Audrey is getting so strong.  She’s really good at holding her head up now!  Certainly makes tummy time more fun!

Ok, so I know I need to be careful to take as many pictures of Audrey as I did of Laney… but, well, it’s just harder to take pictures of Audrey.  Case in point:

As I’m crouched on the floor, trying to take pictures of Audrey, instead I get a picture of Audrey’s elbow, Laney’s legs, and half of Truman’s face.  Life is never boring at our house!

 

Some of Audrey’s happiest times are as I’m putting her to bed.  It’s like she realizes I’m swaddling her and getting ready to stick her in her crib, so she turns on the charm and is all smiles!

She did help Daddy do his homework for awhile one night…

She enjoyed the homework way more than Daddy did!  She really is all smiles right now.  So fun!

We also went to the Boone County Fair with Grandma & Grandpa Price, Charlie, & Ruthie.  We didn’t spend long there, though, because a crazy storm blew in after we got there.  So we had to hang out under a shelter for awhile until it went away.  Audrey didn’t so much mind, because she had a good lap to hang out on! :)

So, there’s two weeks worth of pictures!  As far as updates, she is definitely growing and changing so fast!  She loves to smile and is laughing more and more.  It’s funny, because every time we make her giggle she gets the hiccups.  I guess it’s just so much work that it makes her muscles kind of spasm.  It’s pretty cute!  She’s also getting much better at rolling over, although she doesn’t really try to go anywhere yet, it’s more like she accidentally does it.  She rolls from front to back and from back to front now.  Just last night she was laying next to me while I folded laundry, and I suddenly looked down and she was on her tummy, when I had laid her on her back. 

She is the most content, laid back baby I’ve ever met.  She rarely really throws a fit, and she is actually happy most of the time.  She has had her first good cold this week, thanks to big sis bringing it home from daycare.  But it’s mostly just been a cough and a stuffy nose, no fever even. 

Next week she starts going to daycare full time. :(  Definitely going to miss being home with her all of the time.  It has been such a blessing to have so long at home this time!  Guess I’ll have to really make the most of every morning I’m not working now!

Week 15

Well, the frantic pace of our life has continued for week 15… this summer has just been incredibly busy!  So I didn’t actually take any pictures at home this week… but I did take some on our trip to Springfield!  We headed there to celebrate Grandpa Looten’s birthday, and Audrey got to go on her second trip to Silver Dollar City! :)

Second trip to SDC meant second hard core trial of the double stroller, and we still really like it! Audrey definitely appreciates the whole laying down thing! :)

This time Audrey was big enough to sit up in the stroller pretty well.  She was happy to chill in the back while Laney passed out in the front!  Love that my girls are both such good sleepers!

Ok, so this picture just looks funny (and we got lots of funny looks while we were taking it).  But, with Laney, we’ve taken her picture next to the height thing on The Lost River each summer (see here and here, and I haven’t put up this year’s yet).  So, well, we had to start the tradition with Audrey! :)

 

So, SDC was definitely the most exciting part of week 15!  Also exciting, was that Audrey rolled over for the first time!!  Actually, she did it twice while we were at Grandma & Grandpa Looten’s house.  Pretty cool!  Her torticollis is getting a little better, I think, although she definitely still favors looking to the right.  It’s funny, because she can turn farther when she’s looking that way, so she looks like a little owl- her chin goes like past her shoulder that way!  I keep waiting for her to just turn it all the way around! :)  I’m hoping if we keep working it will continue to get better.  If not, we go to the doctor in a couple of weeks anyway. 

That’s about it from Miss A.’s life… She just keeps getting bigger, growing and changing so fast.  She’s sleeping anywhere between 8-12 hours at night… usually around 10, which is pretty fantastic.  I have really loved having the chance to stay home with her for so long.  She goes for her first day of daycare next week (just for one day that I have to work).  Not sure how that’s going to go, but I managed it with Laney, I’m sure I’ll manage with Audrey, too.  Love these girls! 

Week 14

Well, week 14 was a pretty fun and exciting week!  We had Jess visiting for most of the week, and then there was Audrey’s Fourth of July… all kinds of excitement!! 

Really, we spent most of the 4th of July weekend at Mom & Dad’s house, which was a really good time.  We ended up going there for dinner or just to hang out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday… Friday just to hang out, Saturday to see Mike and shoot off fireworks, and Sunday to celebrate the 4th before the church block party.  All good times, and lots of good pictures! :)

Sunday, Grandma Judy and Aunt Sarah & Uncle Fred came into town because they were going on a road trip with Mom & Dad.  So, they got to hang out on Sunday evening and go to the church 4th of July Block Party with us.  It was really nice, because Miss A. spent a lot of time hanging with Grandma, which left Josh & I free to take pictures, talk with the people from the neighborhood, etc. etc.

While at the party at church, we ran into Haleigh, who is just a couple months younger than Audrey.  Funny, because Audrey is so petite that they are actually the same size!  Oh well!  Two cuties…

 

Come to think of it, we also went to Mom & Dad’s house on Monday, though just for an hour or two to pick blackberries!  Josh didn’t have to work, so the four of us headed out there, met Ruthie, and headed for the blackberry bushes!

Not sure Audrey really enjoyed the whole blackberry picking thing… but she was pretty good, considering how hot it was!

 

Audrey keeps growing and changing.  We are still working on a little bit of a nursing strike, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it was with Laney.  Probably because Audrey really doesn’t know how much easier it is to eat from a bottle!  She’s really talking and smiling, and is trying to roll over.  She actually likes tummy time, I think because she likes just looking around and watching what’s going on.  We are working on the torticollis, too, and I think it’s getting better.  She still has a bit of a flat spot, but she spends more time with her head to the left now, so I’m hoping the flat spot goes away. 

Anyway, so that was the exciting week 14… we really loved having Aunt Jessie here, and celebrating the 4th with so much family!  And we love watching Miss A. grow! :)

Week 13

Well, I promised more pictures for week 13, and I’m delivering!! :)

During week 13 we headed to Windermere for a family reunion!  It was Miss A.’s first time in a pool, and her first time to meet a lot of people from Josh’s family.  Since Josh was at World Changers, it was just the girls and I, but we had a blast! 

First time in the little pool… she did REALLY well.  It was cold because they were just filling it up, but we eased her in and she actually seemed to like it! (funny Laney in the background)

We busted out the crab float, which she was still a little small for!

So we gave up on the leg holes, and just let her curl up in it.  So then she took a nap!

Other than swimming, we mostly spent our time hanging out at the cabin, eating good food, talking with our family, and playing games.

When we got back home, we had a visitor—Aunt Jess!!  She hadn’t seen Audrey since she was about 2 days old!  Audrey is all smiles around Aunt Jess!

And, a new trick for week 13- Audrey is trying to roll over!

 

So there are the picture highlights from week 13!  The rolling over is a new thing to try, which has been fun.  In not so fun news, she has also been working on a nursing strike, which is to be expected at 3 months.  I was hoping to avoid one with Audrey, since she doesn’t really get a bottle very often.  And it hasn’t been as bad as it was with Laney, but it still hasn’t been a whole lot of fun.  Hopefully it won’t be too long…

Other not so fun news, Miss A. has a little torticollis.  She just likes to turn her head to the right, so her neck is stronger on that side (and she’s got a flat spot on that side of her head).  So, we’re trying to fix it by the way we lay her down, carry her, etc.  If it’s not better by her next doctor’s appointment, we’ll ask them about it.  It’s not a huge deal, so I’m sure it’ll get better…

She still is talking and smiling more and more, and starting to show her personality! :)  It’s going to be fun to watch her grow!

Week 12!

Well, week 12 is a couple of days late because last week was absolutely crazy!  Josh was gone on a mission trip with our youth group, so it was just me and the girls from Monday on.  On Wednesday we went to surprise Daddy on his trip… in West Memphis, Arkansas!  It ended up being about 18 hours in the car for the girls- 7 hours down, a couple of hours driving to all of the sites, and 7 hours back home.  Audrey did really well, though.  She slept a lot, of course, but even when she wasn’t sleeping, she was pretty content.  But it was an exhausting day, and then we had to turn around and leave again on Friday, so getting the post done on Thursday just didn’t happen!

Anyway… in preparation for the family reunion that was the next weekend, we spent a lot of this week swimming!  I wanted to get Audrey used to the pool and the water so she didn’t spaz when we put her in the pool at the reunion.  So, we busted out Laney’s little pool and the girls’ swimsuits.  They looked pretty cute! :)

Audrey was totally happy having her feet in the water… not so happy when we put any more of her in!  But happy to dip her toes…

 

I eventually decided to go ahead and blow up the little crab float that we used with Laney.  She wasn’t really big enough to put her feet in and hold up her head! 

So we tried the laying out method, which worked much better!  She was totally happy to float around the pool like this!

 

Anyway, week 13 will be a much more exciting week, since we headed to Windermere for the Looten family reunion.  But week 12 was a pretty normal week, besides the trip to Arkansas!  Audrey keeps growing and changing day by day…

Week 11

Another awesome week for Miss A this week! She continues to change and grow so quickly, I’m thankful that I have this blog to motivate me to write down what she’s doing and take lots of pictures!

Our big development of the week is that Audrey started sleeping in her own crib, in the girls’ bedroom. She’s been sleeping through the night consistently, so we decided it was time. She adjusted just fine, kept sleeping through the night and didn’t really seem to notice that anything had changed! Daddy & I, on the other had, have had a harder time adjusting. Not because we don’t have her in there, it’s been really nice to have our bedroom back. But because now the grunts and groans and noises she makes all night are AMPLIFIED through the baby monitor! :) Plus, the very first night Laney woke up and had to go to the bathroom at like 1:00… she has this thing where she doesn’t think she can get out of bed unless we say it’s ok (guess we trained her pretty well!) so she usually just yells to get our attention. Well, she didn’t realize what the baby monitor was, so at 0100, Josh & I woke up to an amplified scream of “MOOOOOOMMMMM!” Scared us both to death!!
Since then, Laney’s slept through the night, too, and we’ve gotten used to sleeping through the grunts and groans, so it’s getting better!

And on to pictures… :)

Since she’s holding her head up more, I dug out this toy, because Laney loved it. Audrey hasn’t really started looking at herself for long yet, but she seems to like it.

Sunday she wore her “coming home outfit” for the first time (it was massive on her when she was born, plus it was here and she was born, well, NOT here!). She looked adorable, so I had to set up the boppy for a little photo shoot…
